10 Times The WWE Fans Went Off Script

7. AJ's Heel Turn

After arriving to one of the biggest pops of the year at the Royal Rumble, AJ Styles rode a wave of fan support to the main event, where he duly locked horns with John Cena for what many were billing as a potential dream feud.

Things were cordial at first, but AJ eventually grew tired of WWE's franchise player and aligned himself with Messrs Gallows and Anderson - a move that writers were clearly hoping would see the 'Phenomenal One' become the heel to Cena's face.

But it didn't really work out. AJ received, at worst, a mixed response on the night he stabbed Cena in the back, and in their blow-off SummerSlam match a couple of months later there was absolutely no doubt who the crowd were pulling for.
