10 Times Triple H Proved He's WWE's Biggest Babyface
5. Putting Benoit Over On Eddie Tribute Night
The death of Eddie Guerrero on November 13th 2005 effected everybody. Eddie was one of the most beloved wrestlers in the world and his premature passing took the wind out of everyone's sails. As solemn as everyone looked during his tribute shows, nobody looked as flat-out distraught as Chris Benoit. Benoit and Eddie had been best friends for over a decade at that point and their careers had took them from Japan to ECW to WCW and, finally, to the WWF. Outside of the ring they were each other's support systems, two dangerously dedicated individuals whose first love was wrestling. In some ways Benoit felt like he had lost his soulmate when Eddie died and the grief he was experiencing manifested itself in uncontrollable weeping. After an emotional testimonial Benoit wrestled Triple H in the main event of the Smackdown taping. Benoit (who wrestled with his emotions as much as with Triple H) won the contest with the crossface. Afterwards Benoit and Guerrero's travelling partner Dean Malenko came out and celebrated with Benoit while Triple H raised his hand and consoled him before leaving the ring for Benoit and Malenko. It was the right thing to do and Triple H did it.
