Triple H's strange recent WrestleMania era peaked with a powerful show-opener against Daniel Bryan that made immaculate use of the tension WWE had backdoored into for the bulk of the time since 'The Game' turned the prior summer.

It's a transparent lie told by the organisation that it was always the plan to get Bryan to the 'Show Of Shows' with the persistent burial booking that followed his SumemrSlam WWE Championship victory and defeat. But they at least got the ending of this "story" spot on.

Hunter was the right last obstacle before Bryan came face to face with the final bosses. A gimmick of domination informed by far too much of in real life was brilliantly utilised in an anxiety-laden thriller that brought the in-ring work out of a Triple H persona that had mostly used WrestleMania for grand gesture Sports Entertainment.

Much of the credit goes to Bryan (as it would with any of his classics), but everything landed harder because of the head and body they were landing upon. Hunter's threat went from hundred foot tall to dormouse small as the fan-infused power of the YES Movement marched forward to claim temporary ownership of his kingdom.
