10 Times Triple H Was RIDICULOUSLY Selfish At WWE WrestleMania

5. FINE, I'll Do It

The lessons of WrestleMania 29 were not learned.

Triple H, when not politically preoccupied, is almost the legendary performer he is marketed as. More diverse than he is often credited for, he wrestled a technical masterclass with Daniel Bryan at 'Mania XXX, having perfected the trademark cinematic WWE match two years prior. His CV is inconsistent - but the highs are well up there with the very best matches in company history.

All that said: losing to him is no great rub, let alone wrestling him. It's no privilege to wrestle Trips; more often than not, in recent years, it means absolutely nothing. Daniel Bryan was already over prior to that match. It was no rub; it was an atonement. Seth Rollins did not benefit from his 'Mania 33 match; if anything, his stock plummeted. His match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 32 also failed its remit: he put Roman Reigns over, but he did not get him over, rendering the whole thing a fairly pointless exercise. The pitch behind that programme was clearly driven by ego. "I can get him over," is what must have passed through his mind. Encouraging cheers with his crotch-chopping antics in the build didn't help, either.

"He did that in the Attitude Era we constantly tell everybody we miss!"
