Ken Kennedy was being groomed to be a top guy in WWE. It didn't happen right away, but thanks to his ability to cut interesting promos with his "Misterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Kennedyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" routine he quickly gained a following. He was considered one of the fastest rising stars in WWE as a cool heel that had everything going for him. Another factor that helped him was that "Kennedy" is the middle name of Vince McMahon. Apparently he came up with the name along with Paul Heyman when they were in Ohio Valley Wrestling because they knew McMahon could use that in storylines down the road. Two things happened to him to derail his career: he got injured while he held the Money in the Bank briefcase (he ended up losing it to Edge) and he was suspended for using performance enhancing drugs. He was all set to be pushed as McMahon's son. Instead, they turned it into a joke by saying it was Hornswoggle and then later saying it was all fake. The whole thing was an entire mess. Kennedy ended up fired by WWE in 2009 after having too much heat with Randy Orton when he dropped him on his injured shoulder. He hasn't been back. He probably never will be.
