10 Times Vince McMahon Was Dead Wrong

6. Hulk Hogan In 1993

1993 was not a good year for Vince McMahon. Vince had made the decision to phase out Hogan going back to 1990. He tried moving The Ultimate Warrior into the spotlight, but when that failed Vince went crawling back to Hogan. Following WrestleMania VIII, Hogan stepped away from the WWF which allowed for Bret Hart to be positioned as the company's flagship performer. Unfortunately, Bret's stay at the top would only be temporary as Hogan returned just in time for WrestleMania IX and Vince decided to go back to the Hulkster. Those in the crowd of WrestleMania IX have stated that after the broadcast went off the air, Vince McMahon sprinted to ringside, climbed into the ring and gave Hulk a huge embrace in the middle of the ring as if to say "Happy Days Are Here Again." Ironically, Hogan left the company just three months later, but not before refusing to drop the title to Bret. While Vince would demand much more of Bret several years down the road at the 1997 Survivor Series, Vince allowed Hogan to drop the title his way, so that Hogan could save face by losing to the bigger Yokozuna instead of the smaller Hitman. The original plan of Bret defeating Hogan for the title at SummerSlam '93 would've done wonders for Bret's career and helped the WWF transition beyond Hulkamania. Instead, Hogan disrespected the company and the boys that helped make him, he reneged on his previous word to Bret about doing the favors for him, bitched until he got what he wanted, then left the company and signed a contract with the competition. And all because Vince McMahon couldn't stand up to the Immortal Hulk Hogan.
