10 Times Vince McMahon's WWE Pet Projects Failed Him

8. The Giant Gonzales

Of all the men on this list (including Nathan Jones), The Giant Gonzales arguably had the least amount of wrestling ability. Admittedly, his gargantuan size did play a part in that, but the former basketball player rarely looked athletic. Wearing a ludicrously cheesy 'monster' outfit during his appearances, the giant felt out of place even in the cartoonish WWF of 1993.

Whilst the likes of Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were having tremendous matches with all comers, The Undertaker was saddled with The Giant Gonzales. At WrestleMania IX and SummerSlam 1993, the pair had some of the worst bouts in memory. They followed on from the guy's run as El Gigante in WCW, which was equally as drab.

Debuting at the '93 Royal Rumble, Gonzales never showed anything worthwhile. His push was one based on sheer size and nothing else, never coming close to producing the magic of previous giants like Andre The Giant.

By late-1993, Gonzales was gone. His run hadn't been a success by any means, once again letting Vince McMahon know that wrestling fans desperately wanted faster wrestlers, ones capable of high levels of performance inside the ring.
