4. Steve Austin

After years of up-and-down mid card experiences with the company, Steve Austin confided in manager Col. Robert Parker that he'd soon be leaving WCW in 1994. Parker was shocked, and admitted to Wrestling Epicenter that he advised his friend not to give up a contract worth "hundreds of thousands of dollars" or to "burn his bridges" with Eric Bischoff.

The old timer recommended that Austin finish up the remainder of his contract.

Steve was having none of it; eventually, he'd end up being fired by Bischoff via FedEx whilst recuperating from an injury. In other words, Austin didn't quite get to negotiate his own release from the promotion, and he was the one who felt Bischoff burned bridges with him, not the other way around.

He was going to ignore Parker's advice anyway. Austin told his pal that he was seriously unhappy in WCW and needed to get the hell out before he went mad. Obviously, things worked out quite well for the future 'Stone Cold' in the long run.
