Will Ospreay set New Japan on fire in 2016. Revealed as Kazuchika Okada's junior heavyweight apprentice, the Aerial Assassin was quickly pushed into the upper echelon of his division with a Best of the Super Juniors tournament win. While his work was met with acclaim from fans and peers, a certain New Japan legend was less than thrilled.

Unimpressed by the acrobatic sequences and lack of fighting realism, Vader dismissed Ospreay's tournament clash with Ricochet as a gymnastics display. Never one to keep his thoughts to himself, Ospreay took to Twitter to criticise what he deemed out of touch criticism of his work.

The social media equivalent of promos followed with the two ragging on each other some more until Ospreay admitted he'd love to wrestle the heaviest man to ever moonsault gracefully. Past 60 and just a year away from his passing, Vader wasn't quite his original, terrifying self when he arrived for their clash.

Having inspired debates, critiques and increased interest among fans, Ospreay and Vader cashed in on a bit of genuine heat for a pay day. While the match itself was nothing remarkable, the heat surrounding its shoot-based feud proved fans still like a dash of truth in their storylines.
