10 Times Wrestlers Went Into Business For Themselves In The Ring

5. Dirt Bike Kid Pays The Price

On July 17th, 1999, England's Dirt Bike Kid learned a fateful lesson: nobody messes with the Great Sasuke.

Michinoku Pro were holding the 'Masked Tournament' at the time, with the stipulation stating that a wrestler would lose their mask upon defeat. Kid didn't even wear a mask normally, but was given one for purpose of the tournament and wasn't too happy about it. Furthermore, he took exception to the bookers' plans to job him out to Sasuke (one of the most celebrated junior heavyweights of all time) in just a few seconds, so decided to take matters into his own hands.

DBK went off script, first tearing his mask off, then assaulting his opponent with an unplanned backdrop early on, but Sasuke wasn't going to take it. He beat the tar out of Kid knocking him down with series of shoot kicks, before booting him square in the head, then choking him out for the finish.

DBK should've known better. Sasuke was a tremendous wrestler, but he had a nasty reputation away from the ring, and once assaulted a fan for trying to take a picture with him in a subway station. Kid did try to shake hands with his opponent afterwards, but Sasuke was having none of it, and stormed out of the arena.
