10 Times Wrestlers Won Matches By Accident
1. R-Truth Beats Shinsuke Nakamura For The United States Championship
The WWE main roster was never kind to Shinsuke Nakamura from the moment he lost his WWE Championship match against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 34. Things only went downhill for the King of Strong Style, as the creative team under Vince McMahon never considered Nakamura as a future WWE Champion.
Despite the setbacks, some moments saved Nakamura's career from being a complete train wreck in WWE, and his first United States Championship run was one of them. Though his first reign ended in 156 days at the hands of Rusev, Nakamura quickly regained the title at the Royal Rumble 2019 pre-show, but that title reign didn't last as long as the first one.
Nakamura defended the title against R-Truth on the following episode of SmackDown and shockingly ended up losing. When R-Truth rolled up Nakamura for the pin, the latter couldn't kick out on time before the referee finished the three count. Neither Truth nor Nakamura realized the match was over, and needless to say, the latter was irate and tried to argue with the referee as R-Truth stood in a corner with a shocked expression. But at the end of all the commotion, the referee awarded the title to R-Truth.
WWE tried to make up for lost time by sending out Rusev for an impromptu match, and that also ended with R-Truth getting a roll-up victory.
