10 Times Wrestling Fans Put Themselves In Harm's Way
6. The ECW Faithful Don't Like Randy Orton
When you think of ECW, in addition to some phenomenal in-ring and character work, you think of broken bones, paying dues, insane dedication and work ethic, dingy venues, raucous fans and an underground feel that was everything that mainstream wrestling culture so often was not.
On the other side of this, there's Randy Orton: a chiselled, handsome, smug, naturally gifted athlete who immediately had his foot in the door of the 'big time' purely due to his last name.
ECW and Orton were and are water and oil, with Randal Keith every inch the sports entertainer who went against the basic fundamentals of the Land of Extreme.
So, when the Legend Killer made his way to the ring at the 2006 One Night Stand PPV, it wasn't just his opponent - the wrestling machine Kurt Angle who had recently become a figurehead of the ECW letters - those in attendance at the Hammerstein Ballroom were defending; it was the ECW brand itself that was being defended against the brash arrogance of Randy Orton.
Orton's walk to the ring that night is the stuff of legend, with one young kid even landing a sly punch on Randy - resulting in RKO labelling the youngster a "little punk motherf**ker".
