Survivor Series 2014 saw one of the best 5 on 5 traditional elimination matches in recent times. The feud between Team Cena and Team Authority was red hot and had genuine stakes.

Sure the story had been re-using the old valiant babyfaces vs. evil authority figure trope, but hey, when it works it works. Every character felt important, every part of the narrative felt just right.

When the bell rang, the ten guys produced an absolute barn-burner. The match went almost an hour and allowed everyone the time to shine. Nothing however, could compare to the ending.

Dolph Ziggler was clearly the person chosen to emerge with the most spotlight. The Showoff put on a herculean effort to survive 3 vs. 1 odds and come within inches of clinching the unlikeliest of victories. But with his job on the line, Triple H wouldn’t stand by and watch.

The Game interfered on multiple occasions, beat up two referees and then proceeded to Pedigree Ziggler himself so his protégé Seth Rollins could get the win. It was not to be, for that is when the cries of the crow sounded across the arena and from the smoke emerged none other than Sting.

The Icon cleared house and allowed Team Cena to pick up the win. It was a controversial and sensational way to end the epic encounter, forcing Triple H and Stephanie to relinquish all their power (for a while).
