To kick off the new year (and desperately attempt to pop a rating), WWE decided to promote an incoming Legends Night for the January 4 episode of Monday Night Raw. As revealed in various trailers in the build up to the special show, the likes of Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Big Show, Torrie Wilson and many more would be returning to the red brand for...reasons.

However, a number of the names presented in the vignettes such as Candice Michelle and most notably Carlito didn't actually show up on the night. So, if you tuned in to see those particular stars...it sucks to be you.

Throughout the history of the company, WWE have pulled this trick time and time again due to their cards always being "subject to change". Seth Rollins was recently announced to be returning to Friday Night SmackDown for the New Year's Day episode, with WWE even creating a promo video for his return, but his appearance was ultimately scrapped in the end. In 2019, Paul Heyman went out of his way to announce that Brock Lesnar would be cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Raw. Something which also didn't happen, and the list goes on...

The morale of this story is to depressingly always take a piece of WWE advertising with a pinch of salt.
