10 Times WWE Booking Failed Braun Strowman

1. Crown Jewel 2018

Somehow worse for Braun Strowman's future than their No Mercy bore was this Crown Jewel squash.

Perhaps the location and hideous mood around the show didn't help (the event bullishly took place in spite of the murder of journalist Jamal Khashogggi), but the Saudi Arabia show was selected for good reason. After Roman Reigns vacated the Universal Championship just weeks earlier, the remaining men from a planned triple threat were set to go to war and potential provide something of value on a card that otherwise had absolutely none.

Instead, WWE trolled with Brock Lesnar yet again and let Strowman suffer the consequences. Having only turned heel to face Roman weeks earlier, he was babyfaced thanks to Baron Corbin turning on him and costing him the red brand's top strap. It was yet another demotion for a man that had only recently held the Money In The Bank briefcase in what most assumed symbolised an uninterrupted trip to the top of the card.

It took two years before he made back, and by then the magic was gone.
