10 Times WWE Crowd Completely Stole The Show

6. Cena Is Eviscerated At One Night Stand

If you want to see what happens when the Cena-hating wrestling fan and the old school ECW diehard join forces, look no further than WWE€™s second One Night Stand pay-per-view in 2006. It had been clear for some time that Cena was having trouble with a proportion of the crowd, and heading into One Night Stand for his WWE championship match with ECW top babyface Rob Van Dam, he and the WWE office were well aware that, despite performing as an old school clean cut babyface, he€™d be entering the ring with heel heat as significant as any that Larry Zybyszko or Ole Anderson had ever received. Cena made his appearance with his head down and his title belt held high, knowing he was in for a nasty night. True to form, the new school of ECW faithful at the Hammerstein Ballroom tore into him from the first note of his music until he left, lighter twenty pounds of metal and leather. They contemptuously tossed his shirt back into the ring with him several times. Every offensive move received a cavalcade of boos, every kick he absorbed from Van Dam€™s €˜educated feet€™ got deafening cheers. By the time Edge turned up to take him out and pretty much hand RVD the title (getting a chorus of €˜Thank You Edge€™ chants), Cena€™s fate was sealed: this was the roughest night of his career to date, kayfabe or otherwise.
