10 Times WWE Did Something You Never Thought Possible
How on Earth have WWE made fans love Roman Reigns?!
Wrestling is a business that deals in the impossible.
The thrill of watching people put their bodies on the line for entertainment comes from how none of their physical athleticism seems real. Despite your best dreams and efforts, you can probably never achieve the feats these real-life superheroes perform.
However, while WWE often eats impossibility for breakfast, that doesn't mean it can do whatever it wants. There are plenty of things WWE cannot do, even when employing the top millionaire method of throwing boatloads of money towards it.
Fans have seen plenty of things that blow their minds but are constantly aware of the company's shortcomings. Whether it's a failed push, a wrestler who fell through their fingers or any other number of things, it's safe to say that WWE doesn't always get what they want. Still, scarcity often breeds value, which is why those few times WWE has managed to achieve the truly impossible are so deliciously sweet.
World Wrestling Entertainment has produced some truly awe-inspiring feats in its lifetime, and the following ten examples are things you never thought they could do.
10. Turned A Reality Star Into A Respected/Tenured Wrestler
How has this man gone from a second-rate reality TV star to someone AJ Styles has called the "best heel in the business"? The magic of WWE, it would seem.
Mike Mizanin started his TV career appearing in reality programmes like The Real World: Back to New York and Fear Factor. But, it was his turn on WWE's Tough Enough that would lead to him signing with the company, wrestling for nearly two decades and claiming tons of acclaim in the process. Something no-one could have predicted.
Upon his debut, he seemed like yet another flash in the pan attempt to gain mainstream recognition. His disastrous turn as the host of the Diva Search would have been a death knell for any other performer, but WWE stuck with him, and The Miz rose through the ranks, steadily improving his in-ring work and utterly killing it on the mic.
Naturally, the credit cannot fall entirely on WWE's shoulders. The vast majority of the work here came from Mike Mizanin himself, who poured his heart and soul into the business and effectively proved the haters wrong.
Still, there's no denying that the company did the impossible by generating one of the most well-known heels of the modern wrestling world out of a reality TV star.
