10 Times WWE Fans FORCED A Heel Turn
7. The New Day (2015)
While it may be damn near impossible to imagine a world where the beacons of positivity known as The New Day could ever routinely be sour on WWE programming, that was very much the case back when the group were first making their presence known on the main roster way back in 2015.
Though it was most certainly not a part of the original plan.
After initially being unveiled as a set of annoyingly chipper preachers towards the backend of 2014, fans very quickly wanted nothing to do with Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods as a babyface unit. "New Day Rocks!" very quickly became "New Day Sucks!" But instead of ignoring the fact their positive schtick wasn't quite clicking in the way Vinnie Mac initially hoped, the group soon leaned into the negative reaction and doubled-down on their painfully enthusiastic ways.
The addition of some heelish cheating tactics to get the job done in-between the ropes fully cemented the unit as a gloriously entertaining collection of baddies. And when given that little bit more freedom to commit to their goofy personalities whilst being forced to operate on the heel side of the divide, it was only a matter of time before the charismatic forces of nature became too hilarious to genuinely detest.
