10 Times WWE Heroes Failed
7. Evil Totally Reeks Of Awesomeness...And Tag Team Gold
The arrival of the new Millennium brought with it the rejuvenation of tag team wrestling in WWE. The Hardy Boyz and the Dudley Boyz became incredibly popular with fans, one for their daredevil offense and the other for their pronounced affection for tables. They were the heroes of the division but a hero is only as interesting as the villain and those two teams had a phenomenal baddie to play off of in the form of Edge and Christian.
The Canadian-born tandem utilized chairs as their primary weapon, delivering the dreaded Con-Chair-To while simultaneously wrestling tag titles away from their opposition. Their over-the-top douchebaggery and relentless egging on of the audience earned them intense hatred.
After a year of feuding with both the Hardys and Dudleys, it appeared as though Edge and Christian would get their comeuppance at the biggest show of the year, WrestleMania X-Seven, when they battled their foes in the second Tables, Ladders and Chairs match. The presence of Lita and Spike Dudley figured to negate the arrival of Rhyno as the champions' backup. All the ingredients were in place for the heroes to vanquish the heels, one of the two babyface teams claiming their spot atop the tag team world.
But that did not happen. There was no happy ending. Edge and Christian climbed the ladder with the assistance of Rhyno and limped out of Houston's Astrodome with the tag titles in their possession.
