5. WWE Spoils The Draft

The mere concept of an October WWE Draft is itself stupid in a perversely entertaining way.

The annual Survivor Series event is built on the concept of brand warfare. It's meant to be WWE's version of a local sports derby, and there would be something to the concept if they gave half a sh*t about it or weren't so extravagantly thick.

As it stands, the timing of the Draft is so mystifying that the actual sporting equivalent is Rangers selling half of their first team squad on the final day of the January transfer window, and them kissing the badge in the Old Firm days later. Only, that can't be true, because supporters from both sides actually care about their respective teams. At RAW and SmackDown tapings, everybody just sits on their hands, bored sh*tless.

The Draft got even stupider in 2019 when the full list and indeed order of picks was leaked on the day of the first show on the company's website. Perceptive observers noted that the picks had already been telegraphed, spoiling the show as it unfolded.

Dave Meltzer revealed that a note was attached requesting that list be alphabetised, but perhaps the staffer thought "That sounds like a you problem" before just publishing as is.
