Originally, one could argue that Charlotte Flair received a WWE in via nepotism thanks to daddy dearest Ric. Being fair, Charlotte has blossomed into a top female worker, but creative's desire to turn her into some heroic babyface has always been puzzling. It is in 2023 and it was in 2020.

Back then, it was actually the 'Nature Boy' who benefitted from family ties. He was drafted in to get under his daughter's skin by flirting with rival Lacey Evans, and it was rather awkward to watch. Keep in mind that Lacey wasn't overlooked like she is today, so matches between she and Charlotte could've been solid.

Neither had a hope in hell of clicking once walking soap opera Ric waltzed into view and started claiming to be Lacey's baby daddy. WWE's bid to court the same kind of controversy they had 20 years before was so see-through, and giving Ric another shot just because of family wrecked what could've been a decent women's division story.
