10 Times WWE Purposefully Lied To The Fans

8. Promising Nudity On A TV-14 Show

Sex sells. That's a fact! Wrestling promoters (and every business EVER ) have always taken advantage of this fact. It's not just the men that run around half naked every week. Wrestling has always used women as a means of enticing the audience and that's all fine. We can argue about the sexism and misogyny some other time, but men love the tease of nudity. But what about when the tease becomes something more. What about when the promise of semi-naked women, turns into the possibility of full-on nudity. Yes, naked women on a wrestling show. With families in the audience. And millions of kids watching at home. Now things were a lot different during the Attitude Era, but even the most casual fans know that there is no way USA or Sky Sports 3 or whatever network carries WWE where you are, will allow any kind of hardcore nudity on their programming. Kellypoker Still that didn't stop WWE from devoting an entire episode of ECW to divas playing Extreme Strip Poker. Hey ratings were dire! Now nobody expected nudity, but damn it if WWE didn't go all out to create the illusion. The episode ended with a blurred cat fight between Candice Michelle and Maria Kanellis, who were actually wearing flesh colored underwear. Oh did I just ruin your favorite memory of the revived ECW? Sorry!

As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG. I may have a problem! But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
