6. Vince McMahon Was Blown Up

WWE figured Vince McMahon's onscreen death would be in extremely poor taste given Chris Benoit's very-real passing (and the grisly circumstances surrounding it) in 2007. So, following that exploding limousine angle on the 11 June Raw, the company carefully declared that Vinnie Mac hadn't actually snuffed it at all.

The boss was alive and well - this was just a storyline.

None of the Benoit stuff came to light until it was too late, meaning the promotion had to scramble and press the reset button on what was supposed to be McMahon's explosive TV end. Then, perhaps because the Benoit stuff was so damn shocking, WWE moved on from the limo angle completely.

Vince was re-installed as a full-time character on programming shortly afterwards, and commentators were told not to mention the limousine whenever he was around. This remains one of WWE's most curious nearly moments.

It will never be revisited for closure. Ever.
