10 Times WWE Ripped Up The Script After WrestleMania
9. Hulk Hogan Quits
Hulk Hogan had an ego the size of a mountain throughout the prime of his career and an unhealthy obsession over hogging the main event spotlight. That's what led to him politicking his way into winning the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 9.
Going into WrestleMania 9, WWE's original plan was to have Hogan and Brutus Beefcake defeat Ted DiBiase and IRS for the WWE Tag Team Championship and Bret Hart to lose the WWE Championship to the 1993 Royal Rumble winner Yokozuna.
Everything was going according to the original plan, but Hogan was reportedly not interested in winning the tag titles. Instead, he pitched the idea of saving Bret Hart and winning the WWE Championship from Yokozuna in an impromptu match. Hogan reportedly agreed to hold the title until SummerSlam, where he would drop it to Bret Hart in a passing of the torch moment.
However, Hogan allegedly changed his mind and didn't want to continue with the SummerSlam plans. It led to Vince McMahon booking Hogan to lose the title to Yokozuna at King of the Ring 1993, reverting to the original plan of having Yokozuna as the champion.
