10 Times WWE Stars Were Struck By The Intercontinental Title Curse
10. Ezekiel Jackson (2011)
When Ezekiel Jackson won the WWE Intercontinental Title at the one-off Capitol Punishment Pay-Per-View in June, 2011, it seemed logical that the company were interested in pushing him strongly. Previously, Jackson had filled the role of Brian Kendrick's bodyguard, and had also been a member of the ill-fated group known as The Corre. It was actually one of his former stablemates that Jackson defeated on the PPV to win the Intercontinental belt. Wade Barrett was sacrificed so that WWE's new play thing could shine briefly, but it wasn't to last. Just 51 days later, Ezekiel dropped the title to Cody Rhodes without much fanfare. In fact, it's fair to say that a lot of fans probably don't even remember him holding the title. The following year, Jackson was struck down by injury problems, and he'd only make a handful of WWE appearances from that point on. Eventually, in 2014 he was released from his deal with the promotion. Winning the Intercontinental Title did nothing for the man, and was the last big achievement he'd have in pro wrestling to date.
