10 Times WWE Stopped Promoting Its Own Products

1. Several WWE Studio Films

Although WWE Studios has often been criticized for producing B-level movies, WWE still takes pride in its subsidiary and spares no opportunity to promote its latest movie throughout regular programming. There haven't been enough hits to make WWE Studios a true contender, but along the way, it has released notable films on occasion.

The Marine, starring John Cena, was a surprise score when it was released in 2006. The Call, starring Halle Berry, truly was a hit at first, immediately reaching #2 at the US box office. Both are features WWE can't help but brag about whenever it has the chance.

There might have been a few successes, but there have been many more failures for WWE Studios. For instance, the Triple H film The Chaperone was plugged for months, hoping it would be a hit with families. Once the flick only generated $50,000, WWE went quiet, as though it never said anything in the first place. Similarly, the company went cold after the reviews for See No Evil came in. Ever heard of Barricade? No? That's one the Studios immediately stopped promoting when it failed out of the gate.

Just because WWE pushes its latest movie as the next greatest hit at first doesn't mean the company will even acknowledge its existence if it fails to meet expectations.
