10 Times WWE Stopped Promoting Its Own Products

5. WrestleMania XX, By Large

WrestleMania XX was meant to be a milestone for WWE and fans to reflect upon for years. Still, aside from pointing out how Brock Lesnar and Goldberg were booed out of the building even with Stone Cold F'N Steve Austin as the referee, the company rarely mentions the event.

The 20th installment (or anniversary by WWE's definition) of 'The Granddaddy of Them All' returned to its home of Madison Square Garden, where fans witnessed a terrific bout between Eddie Guerrero and Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship, as well as the return of 'The Deadman' Undertaker.

The main event, in particular, has seldom been brought up by WWE. It was a sensational triple threat match between Triple H, Chris Benoit, and Shawn Michaels. Benoit ended up winning, picking up the World Heavyweight Championship in the process.

Due to Benoit's actions three years later, the championship match has nearly been scrubbed from WWE history and arguably for a good cause. Unfortunately, many of the other acts on the card were sacrificed in the process, such as John Cena winning his first belt, the United States Championship, and 'Latino Heat' celebrating under the confetti with his best friend. Add the main event's visual brutality, and WWE is unlikely to include XX in their recaps of 'Mania again.
