What Happened: In 2007, Mr. Kennedy's Wellness Policy suspension halted plans to reveal him as Vince McMahon's son. So, as they typically do, WWE reverted to type and booked the storyline as a comedic sideshow that ended when, after Hornswoggle was teased as a mini-McMahon, Linda, Shane and Stephanie admitted they had orchestrated everything to tease Vince a lesson.

Why It Was Stupid: Read the above paragraph, then come back.

Seriously though, the whole escapade was a terrible reminder that WWE's comedy backup tactics are always destined to fail. A poorly written replacement for Kennedy's meteoric push, the story relied on fans giggling away with Triple H at the thought of little Horny coming from Vince's McBalls.

What should've been a mega-rise for someone fresh at the top of the card ended up being nothing more than an excuse to book more McMahon silliness. The end reveal with Shane, Steph and Linda pleased nobody, and Hornswoggle's inclusion killed the angle dead.
