10 Times WWE Totally Blew It With CM Punk
4. CM Punk Gets Rock-Blocked
CM Punk's 434-day run as WWE Champion wasn't perfect (Ryback says hello), but WWE allowing Punk to break John Cena's record for longest uninterrupted reign seemed like a sign that relations between the Straight Edge Superstar and the head office were finally thawing.
Unfortunately, the way Punk's reign ended marked the beginning of the end of Punk's relationship with the WWE.
The friction started at RAW 1000, when Punk felt like the company were treating him as a prop in the Great One's return. Given that The Rock flat out stated he was going to end Punk's reign during the show, (which is indeed what happened) Punk's misgivings were fully justified.
CM Punk's then-record breaking reign ended up being sacrificed in order to shift the focus on The Rock and John Cena's completely unnecessary rematch at WrestleMania 29. While Punk went on to have the match of the night against The Undertaker at that same PPV, he was legitimately angry at being held back from fulfilling his dream of main eventing 'Mania.
Adding insult to injury, this wasn't the first time Punk felt like The Rock had muscled him out of the main event of WrestleMania. Way back in 2011 Punk declared "the fact that "Dwayne" is in the main event of WrestleMania next year and I'm not, makes me sick!", referring to the first Rock-Cena match that took place at 'Mania 28.
Unfortunately, this would be far from the last time Punk was sickened by the WWE...
