WWE has never been afraid of being petty. From creating the character of I.R.S. after an unexpectedly large audit to suspending Titus O' Neill for playfully grabbing Vince's arm, WWE has a long history of sniping at those it thinks have wronged them.
CM Punk found that out himself when WWE fired him on his wedding day.
Honestly, the sheer spitefulness of this is genuinely impressive (In a weird, depressing kind of way). Punk had walked out of the WWE five months prior to his wedding, so somebody at the company made the conscious decision to wait until the happiest day of Punk's life to tell him he was sacked. That's so needlessly vindictive it brings to mind Ash's famous quote from the original Alien - "I admire its purity...unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality."
Ash was describing the eponymous monster there, and the fact that this also describes WWE's employment practises should be a red flag to anyone in the wrestling industry.
