SummerSlam 2014's main event seemed like a forgone conclusion prior to the show. While Brock Lesnar had claimed a huge scalp by ending The Undertaker's WrestleMania streak a few months prior, he was going up against Super Cena - a man who rarely lost clean.

Logic dictated that just like at Extreme Rules 2012, Brock would put up a strong fight against 'The Face Who Runs The Place', but ultimately fall victim to his predictable booking pattern. In fact, fans were so convinced that Lesnar was going to lose that people were already decrying the decision before the event had even started, filling the internet with talk of burials and bad booking.

Fortunately, it was all unfounded. Brock Lesnar didn't just defeat John Cena: he utterly obliterated the company's biggest star, delivering the kind of one-sided pounding that's almost unheard of in the modern era.

The WWE Champion hung with 'The Beast' for just over 16 minutes, but ultimately fell to the onslaught. It was a genius piece of booking, and one that sent the IWC into a joyous tailspin in the aftermath, not only because most still loathed Cena's presence, but because it came completely out of nowhere.
