10 Times WWE Totally Wasted Potential
3. Carlito
Carlito apparently had a rotten attitude backstage (he was a "bad apple", if you will) but so did Shawn Michaels and he still made it to the very top of the WWE pyramid.
True: the ex-United States Champion was no HBK, but take a look at some of the wrestlers headlining shows around the time of his peak and you can't help but feel he was unfortunate to have spent a career languishing in the mid-card.
What's really difficult to figure out is how Carlito was never really given any meaningful feuds, his career highlight perhaps coming in 2005 when he was paired up with a 50-something Ric Flair, with whom he shared arguably his best singles match.
Although he was talented, the WWE hierarchy clearly had reservations that were too difficult for him to overcome - evidenced in the end by the brutal way in which he was fed to a recently-returned Triple H at Unforgiven 2007.
