10 Times WWE Tried To Present Someone As A Credible Threat (And Failed Miserably)
8. Braun Strowman
Early in his WWE run, you may have been forgiven for assuming that the babyfaced Wyatt Family member Braun Strowman was never going to amount to anything more than a glorified henchman.
But alas, he went on to redefine his monstrous character in the wake of the 2016 brand split and became one of Monday Night Raw's headline attractions for a year or two. His vehicle flipping escapades and battles with Roman Reigns even almost managed to get 'The Big Dog' over.
The guy was a miracle worker!
Yet, just when the time seemed right to pull the trigger on 'The Monster Among Men', WWE got cold feet and decided to have him levelled by then-Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at No Mercy 2017. No matter, Strowman would pick up the pieces of his credibility and continue to soldier on, with Universal title matches at SummerSlam and the Royal Rumble then being chalked down as yet more failed attempts at winning the big one.
Winning tag titles with a minor and a Money in the Bank failed cash-in, all led to his very definite extinguishing as a legitimate main event threat. That Saudi squash at the hands of 'The Beast Incarnate'.
Strowman could have been the 2020's answer to Andre the Giant. Instead, we got another bridesmaid who can't even beat up Tyson Fury in a wrestling match.
