10 Times WWE Tried To Repeat History With The Undertaker

5. The Burning Casket

If you find yourself in the midst of a rivalry with someone as formidable as The Undertaker, you would think that you'd at least do your homework. That way, you'd know what not to do. Apparently Randy Orton didn't get that memo.

Having defeated 'Taker in a Handicap Casket Match at No Mercy 2005, he and Bob Orton locked The Phenom inside the box just before the 'Legend Killer' wheeled it to the top of the aisle. He then proceeded to attack it with an axe and set it on fire. And though an awe-inspiring sight, it would have been a lot more jaw-dropping if Kane hadn't done the exact same thing seven years earlier.

Needless to say, it didn't keep 'The Deadman' down in '98 and it certainly didn't keep him down in '05 as both times he staged epic returns, emerging from a casket that had been struck by lightning.

The feud with Orton was one of 'Taker's best and it was different to anything that 'The Phenom' had done up to that point, but this was an odd step back in time. Effective, yes, but not entirely necessary.
