10 Times WWE Tried To Repeat History With The Undertaker

4. Bearer Of Bad Betrayals

It seemed too good to be true when Paul Bearer returned and reunited with The Undertaker in 2010. The Father of Destruction had done a lot during his stints in WWE but few of his runs were as memorable as his first with 'The Phenom' and their one chance to recreate that synergy in 2004 was cut short, so this was another chance to finally make it happen. Unfortunately, it was indeed too good to be true because this legendary gruesome twosome's union was merely a gateway to a painfully predictable plot twist.

Like many of the moments on this list, Bearer's betrayal of The Undertaker at Hell In A Cell - when he once again aligned himself with Kane - was a poor remake of a genuinely jaw-dropping moment in WWE history.

The manager's original betrayal at SummerSlam in 1996 was so unexpected that jaws literally dropped - understandably so, because we never thought it would happen. Here, however, we knew it was well within Paul's character to do it because he had switched sides who-knows-how-many times throughout his time on WWE TV. And that plot twist robbed us of the chance to see a lengthy final stint from the pair that stole our hearts and chilled us to the bone at the same time.
