10 Times WWE Tried Too Hard To Be REAL

7. Brock Lesnar Busts Roman Reigns Up (WrestleMania 34)

The Universal Championship match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34 is nearly impossible to rewatch. 'The Beast' was wearing out his welcome with his strong-armed booking and repetitive match structures, and 'The Big Dog's' heat as a babyface was at an all-time high. Whether a series of suplexes or announce table spots, neither performer could do anything to win back the crowd, who at this point, chanted "this is boring," "this is awful," and "we want refunds."

Seen as an attempt to save the dumpster fire of 'Mania main event, Lesnar removed his gloves much like he did against Orton and started to drill his elbows into Reign's head until a similar crimson scene unfolded. During the match with 'The Viper,' fans were stunned by the sight. This time, the stunt had little effect, and the fans continued to boo the two men out of the building.

WWE had tried to use a little extra realism to build sympathy for their hated "hero" in Reigns, only for him to suffer the consequences for no real gain. Lesnar retained the belt in an anti-climatic finish, and 'The Guy' took a serious risk just to be left without gold and looking like he was completely out of 'The Beast Incarnate's' league.
