10 Times WWE Waited FOREVER To Break Records
8. Premium Live Events Outside America
"We should bring WrestleMania to London." - The face of WWE every year since the dawn of time.
Fan who've been to see WWE live in the UK will know how often this gets said. They cart out the most popular babyface at the time, have them spout some sentimental nonsense, then pretend they'd actually host 'Mania in the UK. Fans pop and marks groan; it'll never happen.
What fans in the UK don't consider is how lucky they are to get so many shows each year. Raw and SmackDown are normally filmed here twice, with as many as three house show runs touring the country every 12 months.
During the Attitude Era, WWE used to put on two pay-per-views a year in the UK too. Although nothing ever happened at Insurrexion and Rebellion, they were still the only nights of the year when British fans could watch a PPV live in the evening. Those of you that remember the WWE in Channel 4 days will've also begged your parents to buy these on Sky Box Office; what a time in our lives.
Other places in the world aren't so lucky, or should that be weren't? With Triple H at the helm, WWE has gone international in a big way.
With Australia, Canada, France, and Germany hosting in 2024, this year will break the record for most countries hosting premium live events. It's amazing for WWE's global fanbase, one that's had to venture to the United States to watch 99% of PPVs in the last 30 years.
