10 Times WWE Was Totally Better Than Your Fantasy Booking
3. Break Up The New Day
Your Fantasy Booking:
Factions are made for break-ups. Most wrestling acts grow stale after two years, and the corny, boisterous New Day must be broken up before the dancing and high-pitched promos become insufferable. Big E is the clear star of the group, and he must be pushed as a main event act accordingly. As for Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods? Well, f*ck Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, essentially. After Big E turns on them, they can eat sh*t in the aimless midcard. It is imperative that Big E turns because his charisma must be suppressed. He needs to get mean!
WWE's Real Booking:
Because the New Day stack novelty oversized cereal boxes with merchandise cash, WWE continued to feature the stable heavily. And, even if the comedy is a cake-eating exercise in this-isn't-funny-but-we-know-it-isn't, they elevated the tag team division from the depths of utter anonymity and mediocrity and made many an over-long PPV card watchable. Their infectious energy was almost literally refreshing, and the very real bond they shared enriched Kofi Kingston's emotional WrestleMania Moment TM. The stable was so lived-in, with a believable interior life, that their wholesome camaraderie deepened the emotional heft of the storyline and its tearjerker coda.
