10 Times WWE Went Back On Big Decisions
3. Firing Emma (The First Time)
While most of these examples have affected on-screen storylines, here we have an instance that related to something rather more real in the form of Emma’s employment status with the company.
On Jul 2, 2014, a tumultuous day saw Emma released from her contract in the afternoon, before the company reneged on its hasty decision by reinstating her just an hour later.
The whole debacle stemmed from a shoplifting incident, whereby Emma took home an iPad case, valued at a handsome $21.14, without officially paying for it. Of course, it seems the misdemeanour wasn’t quite as bad as it sounds, with Emma’s lawyer maintaining that her alleged theft was the result of a mix-up whilst using the self-service checkout.
As such, WWE brought her back almost as quickly as they’d gotten rid of her, presumably because they’d realised they might’ve overreacted, but perhaps also because they happened to have a number of names on their roster who’d racked up far worse offenses, including DUIs, and yet remained on the company’s books.
