10 Times WWE Went Too Far

6. "Roman Has To Answer To The Man Upstairs"

More an old-school scorched earth shoot interview than a podcast, Jon Moxley's May 2019 appearance on Talk Is Jericho hit the wrestling world like a mortar blast, with the former Dean Ambrose shedding new light on WWE's broken creative process in the Such Good Sh*t era.

One of Moxley's most pointed complaints revolved around Vince McMahon insisting he spit multiple lines on Roman Reigns' leukaemia diagnosis after turning heel in late 2018. Having already taken the emotional rawness of Reigns' announcement to spark the heel turn, Mox didn't reveal exactly what the Chairman wanted him to say, but called it "so bad it would have lost [WWE] sponsors."

The one instance of WWE capitalising on Reigns' illness to generate heat for Ambrose was bad, but not "losing sponsors" bad. It went down on the 19 November episode of Raw. "We're all gonna get what we deserve," 'The Lunatic Fringe' said, referring to The Shield's past kayfabe sins. "I mean, look at Roman. For Roman's part and what Roman did in The Shield, he has to answer to the man upstairs."

He has to answer to the main upstairs.

Stay classy, WWE.
