10 Times WWE Went Wrong With Bayley On The Main Roster
3. Winning The Raw Women's Championship On Raw (Raw, February 13, 2017)
As noted, Bayley entered the Raw Women's Championship picture earlier than she should have, but she was still a believable challenger to the belt by early 2017. Following Bayley's failure to beat Charlotte Flair for the title at the Royal Rumble (where they contested a great match), it looked like she was in line for a run with the strap starting at WrestleMania 33.
After all, there was no better place for Charlotte's pay-per-view streak to end and for Bayley to finally achieve her lifelong dream of becoming a champion on the main roster. If that wasn't in WWE's plans, the very least they could have done was have Bayley capture the championship for the first time at Fastlane, considering she ended up beating Charlotte at that event, anyway.
WWE instead jumped the gun, and similar to Sasha Banks, Bayley won her first Raw Women's title on...Raw. Sure, the crowd popped huge and it was a cool crowning of a new champion, but it proved just how shortsighted WWE can be at times. It was such a short-term gain that hurt Bayley in the long run, nowhere near on the level of her title victory versus Banks at TakeOver: Brooklyn two years prior.
