10 Times WWE Wrestlers Played Two Gimmicks At Once

5. The Hurricane - Ace Reporter Gregory Helms

"Ace Reporter Gregory Helms" was a rather cute addition to The Hurricane act, all told.

A gimmick birthed from a Steve Austin riff on Helms' Green Lantern tattoo, The Hurricane character was impeccably measured by both company and performer as something silly enough to breathe in Sports Entertainment but not so inherently thick that it strangled the man behind the mask.

With confidence from both sides that fans had faith in the persona, the malleable Helms fleshed it out rather magnificently. Loyal to the genre, Helms' reporter bit played typical with the comic book cliche, and permitted fans and talent ample opportunity to be wise to his identity without feeling the need to actually reveal it.

There only to further angles, it never crossed over and had a detrimental impact om Helms' rock solid foundations. It'd perhaps be generous to say The Hurricane had depth, but this added wrinkle gave yet more heart to a babyface gimmick that found earnest audience acceptance in the post-Attitude Era muck of the mid-2000s.
