10 Times WWE Wrestlers Played Two Gimmicks At Once

3. Triple H - Babyface Cerebral Assassin

Triple H was so good in 2000 that he was able to be satan himself between the ropes while also very effectively portraying a babyface at the wrong end of a slimy piece of sh*t trying to muscle in on his marriage all summer.

WWE, equally, was so absolutely fantastic at the same time that they managed to keep him comparably over despite The Rock's soaring popularity and Steve Austin returning to action in September.

All of this reached a fever pitch at October's No Mercy pay-per-view. There, Hunter had beef with both Angle and babyface champion Rock for going anywhere near Stephanie McMahon. Wild as it would seem mere weeks later when Hunter had reverted back to the comfort zone of being a top heel, fans were honestly torn on the interaction - so bound as they were to 'The Game' in his role as a contemporary Sports Entertainment polymath.

Before he was called upon to salvage the Rikishi-Runs-Over-Austin mess, he was as close as he ever came to the Mount Rushmore status he's since pretended to have. Audiences adored 'The Game's total package era. Only during his 2002 Madison Square Garden return did he reach the crowd on a level close to that, but by then, insecure muscularity had replaced all that immense skill.
