10 Times WWE Wrestlers Shot On The Fans
4. Braun Strowman Displays A Startling Lack Of Empathy
This entry is a bit different, as it was aimed at independent wrestlers. But indy wrestlers are among the biggest wrestling fans on the planet, so there you go.
The COVID-19 pandemic ravaged professional wrestling. In a show of solidarity, AEW wrestler Evil Uno suggested supporting wrestlers in need, especially independents. In response, many successful wrestlers who hadn't forgotten their roots stepped up, including Chris Jericho, Cody Rhodes, and Jon Moxley.
Braun Strowman? Not so much.
Strowman, likely one of the best-paid performers in wrestling at that point, decided to make his feelings known on Instagram:
“Here we go with more of the somebody pay for my bills stuff. If you can’t afford to pay your bills maybe you should change professions...What happened to being accountable for your own actions????!!!”
Strowman also stated that seven years ago, he himself was in the indies with $50 to his name, apparently forgetting that he made his way up in a flourishing NXT scene, not an indie circuit hammered by a worldwide illness.
Despite some validity in Strowman's argument, the tone-deaf nature of his timing and the harshness angered both fans and other wrestlers. Many fans reminded him that The Rock started with even less yet is consistently supportive, charitable, and empathetic.
Monster indeed.
