10 Times You Were Right To Worry About WWE Feuds

9. Hulk Hogan Vs. Shawn Michaels

Wrestling fans love booking dream matches.

Despite the two of them sharing a locker room in the 80s and 90s, Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels never went one-on-one. Time was running out on a Hogan-Michaels feud, but after the Hulkster patched things up with Vince McMahon for the hundredth time, Hulkamania was running wild again.

Just one thing: had the time for this match been and gone? HBK was having the greatest matches of his career, but Hogan's best days were over a decade earlier. Something felt off about them doing the dance in 2005. Whatever fans thought, after the Heartbreak Kid hit Hogan with Sweet Chin Music and stood over him, it was on.

Nobody can pretend that HBK's work in this feud wasn't gold. He hadn't been a heel since he returned to the ring in 2002, so he was relishing the chance to be the bad guy. His promo in Montreal should be shown to every wrestler that's trying to get heat with the audience. Even his scenes where he dressed as Hogan and made fun of his age were hilarious.

Then it all went wrong...

Hogan took offense to some of Shawn's work. A "That doesn't work for me brother!" later and the three planned matches in the feud were changed to just one. Guess who Hulk wanted to go over...

HBK ended up sabotaging the match; he oversold everything Hulkamania threw at him, so nobody came out of this well.

When I'm not trying my hardest to visit all 50 U.S. states, I'm listening to music from the 80s, watching TV from the 90s, and reminiscing about growing up in the 00s. I'm currently living in Melbourne, Australia so WWE premium live events are on Sunday afternoons for me; the absolute dream.
