Bobby Lashley is the current TNA World Heavyweight Champion that's in a heel role as part of a heel stable with two former WWE guys MVP and Kenny King. If MVP didn't suffer a knee injury he'd probably be the TNA Champion right now. Lashley's doing well in the role. His recent match with Jeff Hardy on Impact was really good and showed why WWE thought so highly of him in the mid-2000s. His WWE run only lasted about four years, ending in 2008 after he was pushed strongly although he failed to win the WWE or World Title. He was always close. It just didn't happen for him. Part of that reason was because he has never been strong in terms of his character, but he has the kind of physique that WWE obviously loves. The man is strong. No denying that. A big reason why he left WWE was because he wanted to pursue Mixed Martial Arts and that's something he's done over the last five years. He's got a record of 10-2 although he didn't make it to UFC level. Strikeforce was still pretty good, though. He has a fight for Bellator in September, so he's going to balance that along with wrestling. Not easy. He just turned 38 years old, so he's not at the point where he's past his prime although he's getting close. If WWE signed him he would most likely have to give up his MMA interests, though. That's definitely not something WWE would want him to do. It's possible that WWE might bring him back if he was available. They liked him in the mid-2000s after all.
