10 Totally Ineffective WWE Heel Runs

9. Luther Reigns

Though he was under WWE employ for close to two years, Luther Reigns failed to make any impact as a member of the full-time roster. Debuting as SmackDown General Manager Kurt Angle's assistant, he was handed a relatively high profile role alongside 'The Olympic Hero,' and engaged in a lengthy feud with Big Show throughout his first few months on television.

The rivalry spanned several PPV cycles, and often incorporated Angle and Mark Jindrak (the duo's new ally), but completely failed to get Reigns over as a heel. The trio eventually formed a new 'Team Angle,' with Jindrak and Reigns playing henchmen while working as a tag team, which led to a feud with The Undertaker in February 2005. Unsurprisingly, Luther was defeated, and Jindrak eventually turned on him.

Though he was struggling to get any kind of crowd reaction whatsoever, WWE didn't give up hope on Luther. They eventually decided to resume his feud with Show in one last roll of the dice, but it failed again, and Luther was relegated to Velocity shortly after. Not even the rub of working with Angle, Show, and 'Taker could get Reigns over, so noticeable were his deficiencies.
