10 Tough Questions WWE Must Ask Itself In 2021
9. Where Is The Next Roman Reigns Coming From?
Roman Reigns' transformation from disconnected babyface to 'Tribal Chief' has been a resounding critical success, with Reigns, Jey Uso, and their rivals at the heart of some of WWE's most compelling programming since August. Fans had spent the best part of six years campaigning for a heel turn to ease Roman's woes: turns out they were right all along.
Long-term storytelling isn't one of WWE's strengths in this era of sub-goldfish attention spans. Regardless, the company can ride this character for a long, long time, as there's still a huge vat of unexplored material to cover, from Jey's far-from-finished character arc and his brother Jimmy's return, to the potential Rock dream match and deciding which babyface should score the ultimate rob by dislodging 'The Head of the Table.'
Reigns is the best. At the moment, WWE has nothing to worry about with him. Instead, they must focus on pulling the next rabbit from their creative hat. Having one hot, fanbase-uniting storyline isn't enough, particularly now that the Bayley vs. Sasha Banks program is on ice. The broken star-making machine pumped out a diamond in the 'Tribal Chief,' whose lessons must be applied when choosing the next guy (or girl) up.
