10 Traditional Wrestling Elements WWE Completely Ignore

7. Allure Of Different Styles Clashing

This is hopefully something WWE decide to put more emphasis on if guys like Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Finn Balor become regular members of the main roster. All of those men have similarities in that they are pro wrestlers, but there are different styles hidden just beneath the surface. Certainly when it comes to Owens and Balor, it doesn't take a genius to see that they wrestle in very different ways. Thankfully, Owens is being presented as an unknown commodity to John Cena, which is exactly how it should be, but all too often WWE as a company haven't drawn attention to the fact that a vivid clash of styles can be a huge selling point for a match. Take Bret Hart vs. Yokozuna at WrestleMania IX, for example. The match isn't really remembered as a classic, one festooned with near fall after near fall, but it didn't need to be that. Instead, the bout is solid, and faithful to the characters and styles of both men involved. Going further than this, look at how UFC present their top fights, looking in-depth at the various strengths and weaknesses each fighter has, and fans love picking apart the endless possibilities as a result.
