10 UFC Fighters Who Died This Past Decade

8. Shane Del Rosario

Shane del Rosario was a hard-hitting heavyweight out of Hacienda Heights, California.

At the age of 17, he began to train with MMA legend Marco Ruas. Del Rosario started his combat sports career as a professional kickboxer before transitioning into mixed martial arts.

Following the transition, the heavyweight rattled off eleven consecutive victories on his way to earning a UFC contract.

He would make his promotional debut in May of 2012. His opponent would be none other than the current reigning UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic. Miocic would hand del Rosario his first professional loss via second-round TKO.

The Californian's final fight would be a KO loss to Pat Barry at The Ultimate Fighter: Team Carwin vs. Team Nelson Finale, back in December of 2012, thus giving him a professional record of 11-2.

On November 26, 2013, the 30-year-old fighter suffered full cardiac arrest (the result of multiple heart attacks) and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Prior to the incident, del Rosario was placed on dialysis due to issues with his livers and kidneys.

After several days in the hospital, Shane del Rosario passed away on November 26, 2013.
